BUSINESSES from space companies to grocers were honoured at a business awards celebrating the 'vibrant' local scene.

Vale4Business has announced the winners of its annual awards with Oxford Space Systems and CIS Ltd taking home two each.

Oxford Space Systems, based in the Harwell Campus, were named research and development award winner and its founder Mike Lawton was business leader of the year.

IT company CIS was named overall employer of the year and its CEO was also crowned a leader of the year.

Childrey Stores in Wantage took home the new business of the year award.

Cllr Mike Murray said: “The event was filled with the best innovative and successful businesses in our region.

"We have been delighted at the many inspiring stories from people who had an idea at their kitchen table and took it to the next level."
