Bell and Edwards honoured by ECB
Ian Bell and Charlotte Edwards are England's men and women's cricketers of the year for 2013-14.
The two batsmen's Ashes exploits were decisive factors, Bell's in England's victory last summer if not their subsequent whitewash down under, and Edwards' as captain to help win the urn twice over in back-to-back series home and away.
Bell and Edwards were joined by Yorkshire and England Under-19s captain Will Rhodes as the Development Programme cricketer of the year and Stephen George as the disability cricketer of the year.
All the awards were presented at a dinner hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board and team sponsors Waitrose in the Long Room at Lord's on Monday evening.
Bell, who won ahead of fellow short-list candidates Stuart Broad and Joe Root thanks to votes from the cricket media, made three hundreds and two 50s in England's 3-0 win over Australia in last summer's Investec series.
ECB chief executive David Collier said: "These awards are always fiercely contested and represent a huge accolade for the individuals concerned.
"Our congratulations go to all our award winners for their outstanding efforts on behalf of England teams over the past 12 months.
"We also thank our team sponsor Waitrose, and the MCC, for their help in staging this event in one of cricket's most iconic locations - the Long Room at Lord's."
