Teenage half-back George Williams has committed himself to hometown club Wigan by penning a fresh four-year deal.

The highly-rated 19-year-old joined the club's scholarship programme four years ago and has excelled from there, with his debut coming in a Challenge Cup tie against Leigh in 2013.

He has featured in the reigning First Utility Super League champions' last 10 games and Warriors coach Shaun Wane is delighted to have tied down the youngster to a new contract.

"Make no mistake, we are the envy of many Super League clubs in getting George's signature," said Wane.

"He fits perfectly into the Wigan culture with his behaviour on and off the field and I look forward to sharing much success with George over the years to come."

Williams added: "I am delighted to commit my future to Wigan. I thoroughly enjoy the environment here and intend to repay the coaches' trust in me by working hard, continuing to improve and play my role in helping this team to achieve great things."
