The body of a teenager who got into difficulties in a reservoir has been found by police.

The boy, aged 17, was one of several youngsters who were using a raft yesterday evening near Burwain Sailing Club, at Foulridge, Colne, Lancashire.

A body was recovered from the reservoir this morning after a search by specialist units.

A police spokesman said: "A rescue operation was launched, with the underwater search unit continuing to search for the 17-year-old throughout the night.

"Sadly, around 5.40 this morning, a body was recovered from the reservoir. Next of kin have been informed."

Police said the 17-year-old was part of a group of seven who were on the water.

Five were rescued unhurt and a sixth was taken to hospital for a check-up.
