CHINNOR were given a late scare by Redruth but held on to triumph 34-33 in a thrilling encounter at Kingsey Road.

A Greg Goodfellow penalty saw the hosts open the scoring in the National League 2 South clash.

It was soon 10-0 when Orisi Nawaqaliva crossed and Goodfellow converted.

Chinnor extended their lead to 15 points when Phil Chesters sprinted over.

Redruth reduced the deficit before the break after Tom Notman went over.

Chesters crossed again, Goodfellow converting, to make it 24-5 to Chinnor.

Notman replied, Richie Kevern adding the extras, before the hosts made it 34-12 thanks to tries from Tom Price and Nawaqaliva, Bertie Hopkin converting the second.

Redruth came storming back with three converted tries in the last ten minutes from Kevern, Chris Fuca and Notman, but Chinnor had done just enough.

Henley Hawks drew 30-30 at home to Canterbury.

Jonathan Murray’s try put the visitors ahead, but the hosts made it 7-5 when Jack Robinson crossed.

A George Jackson penalty put Henley 10-5 in front, but they trailed by five points after Harry Sayers and Jake Rigby dived over.

However, Connor Hayhow’s try put Hawks 17-15 in front at the break.

Sayers raced over to put Canterbury ahead, before Tom Best and Jackson traded penalties as the visitors went 23-20 up.

Hawks hit back, Max Berry crossing, but they had David Hyde sin-binned and trailed by three points again when Jarvis Otto touched down.

But a late Jackson penalty, who kicked three conversions, earned a draw.
