SAM Watkinson scored 17 points and Fotu Latu crossed twice as Oxford Harlequins beat local rivals Grove 42-12 at Marston Ferry Road.

But the hosts were caught cold after four minutes of the South West 1 East clash when Jimmy Wallbridge crossed for the visitors, James Monks converting.

Latu was sin-binned for Quins soon after.

However, the hosts levelled on 16 minutes, thanks to George Tierney’s try, Watkinson converting.

And they led 21-7 at half-time as Latu drove over, before Ed Yeates collected Watkinson’s kick to cross. Watkinson added the extras on both occasions.

The fly half then converted his own try to make it 28-7.

Latu drove over for his second, before Joe Bellinger crossed on 72 minutes for Grove.

But there was still time for Paul De Lange to plunge across for Quins’ fifth try. Watkinson converting their last two tries.

Joe Mills scored a hat-trick of tries as Banbury beat Swindon 36-19 away from home.

Mills, who kicked an early penalty, converted his own try to put Bulls 10-0 in front.

Ian Isham crossed, Mills adding the extras, to make it 17-0.

Swindon replied, but Banbury opened up a 31-7 lead.

Mills crossed twice more, converting both, to complete a stunning hat-trick before the break.

Swindon reduced the arrears to 17 points, thanks to a couple of tries.

But a late unconverted score from Matt Brock sealed the win.

Witney were beaten 18-12 at Old Centralians.

Wayne Mulhern kicked the hosts into a 3-0 lead, but for all their possession they could not breach the Witney defence.

And the visitors took the lead on 29 minutes when Gareth Campbell drove over for an unconverted try.

After the break, Old Cents pressure took its toll when Lewis Cameron burst through. Mulhern, who soon after kicked a penalty, converted.

And the hosts made it 18-5 when Nathan Stroud went over.

Witney refused to give in and Mark Fuller touched down, Arron Lambourne, converting, to claim a losing bonus point.

Bicester lost 30-11 at Salisbury.
