BICESTER were unable to end their Southern Counties North campaign with a victory as they lost 28-10 at Thatcham.

Liam Rowland went over and Callum Stewart converted his own try to give the hosts a 12-0 lead.

Stewart’s penalty further stretched Thatcham’s lead to 15 points.

But a Tom Miles penalty ensured Bicester got themselves on the scoreboard just before half-time.

The second period started with Stewart slotting another penalty.

However, Bicester were next over the whitewash as Francois Wiese stretched across under the posts.

Miles converted to make it 18-10.

Dave Aslett went close to breaching the try line for the visitors, while Miles missed a long-range penalty.

But Thatcham extended their lead to 11 points when Stewart kicked a penalty.

The visitors then had Ryan Gallacher yellow carded and James Thoroughgood powered over for the hosts.

Stewart converted but despite defeat, Bicester finished fourth in the table.

Just a point and a place behind were Wallingford who were beaten 15-10 at home by promotion-chasing Aylesbury.

The hosts started well and a Phil Dawes penalty gave them a 3-0 lead.

Aylesbury cancelled the score out almost immediately with a penalty of their own, but Wallingford went on to lead 10-3 at half-time.

Winger Dan Sadler was set free and evaded several tacklers to go over.

Dawes converted.

Aylesbury put pressure on home side after the break and it eventually tolled when they crossed for a converted try to level at 10-10.

The match continued to be a closely-fought affair, but the visitors got on the scoreboard again with an unconverted try.
