A DOMINANT second half performance saw Witney run in five tries and beat lowly Swanage & Wareham 33-7.

The west Oxfordshire side’s fourth successive victory leaves them two points off third in South West 1 East.

Carl Strutt’s try, converted by George Lewis, gave visiting Witney the lead.

But from there on, play mainly took place in their half and it was 7-7 at the break when Callum Young touched down and Philip Graves added the extras.

After the break, Lewis converted his own try and Witney raced into a 26-7 lead on 53 minutes when Rhys Morgan and David Hyde went over.

Lewis added the extras for the first score.

Witney continued to dominate and on 75 minutes it was 33-7 when Ben Fisk forced his way over.

Lewis converted to make sure of victory.

Oxford Harlequins beat Trowbridge 31-27.

Sam Watkinson’s penalty put Quins in front, but the hosts made it 7-3 when Dave Martin drove over and Tom Weaver added the extras.

The visitors replied on 36 minutes when Jack Robinson crossed and Watkinson converted, but two Weaver penalties ensured the hosts led 13-10 at half-time.

A Watkinson penalty levelled the score and, despite having two players in the sin-bin, Quins made it 28-13 with Huw Dimond and Robin Craig crossing.

Trowbridge responded with Gareth Davies going over on 77 minutes, Weaver converting, but Watkinson kicked a penalty for Quins.

The hosts scored another try in the last play as George Leach went over and Weaver added the extras.

Grove climbed out of the relegation places with a 38-29 win over Leighton Buzzard.

Guy Nicholl scored a hat-trick of tries, while Sam Allen and Rory Gratwohl also went over.

Mike Martin kicked two conversions and three penalties.
