RICHARD Battson says he will always keep an eye out for Oxford Harlequins’s results as he prepares to start a new life in Australia.

The New Zealand-born flanker, who has family down under, leaves the country today after spending three season with Quins.

Battson, 29, who is a plumber by trade, played his last game for the club in last Friday’s Oxfordshire Cup defeat at Banbury.

And he leaves with fond memories, especially of his first season in 2013-14 when Quins won South West 1 East and the county cup.

“There have definitely been ups and downs,” he said.

“Winning the league and the cup in my first season was definitely the highlight.

“It was pretty disappointing last year, but I think this season has been a hard one again but we are getting there.

“I will definitely keep up to date with how they get on.”

BANBURY full back George Grieve and Chinnor scrum half Charlie Nicholls have been invited to join the RFU South West Divisional programme.
