Witney outclassed local rivals Grove to leave south Oxfordshire with a 39-5 victory and a four-try bonus point on Saturday.

The victory lifted Tug Wilson’s men up to third in South West 1 East, condemning Craig Burrows’ team to a third-straight defeat.

A Henry Lamb penalty put Witney ahead on five minutes and he doubled the score after Grove had Rory Gratwohl sin-binned.

Moments later, Witney centre Matt Clarke raced through to dot down. Fly half Lamb added the extras.

Witney’s dominance continued, with George Lewis crossing.

And on the stroke of half-time, it was 25-0 after Clarke went over for his second try, Lamb converting.

After the break, Dave Hyde scored the bonus-point try and Lamb converted.

With Witney’s Callum Godfrey in the bin, Joe Chilvers dived over for Grove's try.

But Witney had the last say when George Lane crossed, Lamb converting.

Oxford Harlequins scored twice late on to secure a thrilling 32-32 draw away to High Wycombe.

Quins led 19-3 after 20 minutes thanks to two sparkling tries from winger Alex Kenny and one by full back Ed Yeats, with Sam Watkinson adding two conversions.

Wycombe hit back with tries by Charlie Edwards and Steve Philpot, with Matt Wardle adding a conversion to his previous penalty, but Watkinson’s penalty gave the visitors a 22-15 half-time lead.

In the second half Quins conceded two soft tries by Wardle and Greg Butters. Wardle converted both and kicked a penalty to put Wycombe 32-22 ahead.

Quins levelled the scores, thanks to penalty from Watkinson, who also converted a try from Jack Crowe.

Quins almost won it with the last kick, Watkinson’s 55-metre effort drifting wide.
