ALEX Stevenson’s late penalty earned leaders Banbury a 21-19 win over Earlsdon in Midlands 2 West South.

An Ed Phillips penalty gave Bulls a 3-0 lead, before Josh Deegan crashed over for 8-0.

But two scores, one converted, saw the hosts lead 12-8.

The visitors responded with Matt Goode going over and Sam Stoop converting, but Earlsdon came back with a converted try of their own to make it 19-15 and set up a tense finish.

Banbury’s Stevenson then slotted a penalty to move them within a point.

And with the clock running down, Stevenson was on hand to land another three-pointer.

Wallingford earned a 12-8 victory at Bletchley in Southern Counties North.

The hosts started brightly and forced their way through for an unconverted score.

Wallingford then had Jack Greenway sin-binned, but despite the numerical disadvantage, they took the lead through Pete McKinley’s converted score.

After the break, Jermaine Webster scored Wallingford’s second try.

The visitors then lost Antony Marris and Greenway to the bin, but Bletchley could only add a penalty as Wallingford secured victory.

Bicester suffered a 12-10 defeat at Buckingham.

Prop Gareth Evans scored Bicester’s try converted by Tom Miles, who also slotted a penalty and missed a late kick at goal that would have won the game.
