INJURY-HIT Chinnor suffered their sixth successive defeat in National League 2 South as they were narrowly beaten 34-32 at Redruth.

With more than 20 players out through injury and unavailability, they got off to a dream start when Robbie Martey crossed for 5-0.

Dave Mankee kicked a penalty for the hosts, before Chinnor made it 12-3 when Bertie Hopkin converted his own try.

But Luke Hattam and Tom Cowan-Dickie went over for Redruth, one converted, as the hosts took a 15-12 lead.

The momentum switched back and forth as Chinnor’s George Blewitt crossed for an unconverted try, before Sam Parson replied for the hosts.

Mankee converted for 22-17.

They stretched their lead to 12 points when Shaun Buzza drove over and Mankee again slotted the conversion.

Chinnor responded, with Blewitt scoring and Will Millett touching down.

Hopkin converted the latter for 29-29.

But the hosts came back and Cowan-Dickie crossed to make it 34-29.

Hopkin kicked a penalty for Chinnor, but they were forced to settle for two bonus points.

Henley Hawks notched back-to-back wins in National League 1, with a 24-21 victory at Loughborough Students.

Hawks’ Robbie Stapley touched down and Elliott Cox converted for 7-0.

They doubled their lead when Jake Albon crossed and Cox added the extras.

Just before half-time, Jack Wardle went over for Loughborough and Bar Bartlett converted.

Bartlett’s penalty reduced Henley’s lead to 14-10.

Stapley drove over for his second and Cox added the extras to make it 21-10 to Henley.

Loughborough set up a nervy finish when Jack Ponis crossed.

But Cox’s penalty, sandwiched between two Bartlett three-pointers, proved crucial for 24-21.
