GROVE ended a three-match winless run in South West 1 East with a 35-20 victory over Swindon at Cane Lane.

Captain James Eckert's converted score, Brendan White's try and a Mike Martin penalty helped the south Oxfordshire club to a 15-13 lead at half-time.

They then secured the victory and a four-try bonus-point, with Jack Horrocks and Martin crossing for converted scores in the second half.

Fly half Martin also kicked two penalties.

Witney picked up a losing bonus point as they went down 33-27 at home to Towcestrians.

Two penalties from Jed Whitehouse was all they had to show for the first half, as they trailed 20-6 at the break.

The visitors extended their lead by a further seven points, before the hosts came fighting back.

James Monks and Joe Rowles went over for converted tries to make it 20-27.

But two Ben Young penalties edged Towcestrians into a 33-20 lead and despite Richard Haire's try on 75 minutes, they fell short.

Oxford Harlequins were denied victory at Reading by a last minute penalty, losing 30-28.

Despite Axel Poulet and Kyle Sharpe tries, both converted by Sam Watkinson, Quins trailed 15-14 at half-time.

After the break, Jack Robinson crossed twice, Watkinson adding the extras on both occasions, as the visitors led 28-27 in the final moments.

But a last minute penalty by Alex Murray-Smith earned victory for the hosts.
