ED Keohane scored 22 points as Chinnor racked up eight tries in a convincing 52-13 victory over Shelford at Kingsey Road.

The full back went over twice and kicked six conversions, but Worthing’s 28-22 win at champions Henley Hawks ended their hopes of finishing in National League 2 South’s top five.

Chinnor opened the scoring when Jack Hayes, playing his last home match before joining Greene King IPA Championship side Rotherham Titans in the summer, dotted down for a converted try.

A Steve Smith penalty put Shelford on the scoreboard, before Keohane went over in the corner.

Chinnor added to their tally when George Blewitt sprinted to the posts.

Keohane added the extras.

A scrum in front of the posts led to No 8 Alfie To’oala driving over, with Keohane converting.

Shelford replied through Matt Gregson, but Chinnor secured the bonus point when Keohane dived over and converted his own try.

Chinnor’s Ryan Long was yellow-carded after the break and Shelford immediately took advantage with Aki Lea crossing from the resultant penalty line-out drive.

However, from the restart, Alex Waddingham gathered a dropped ball and sprinted to the line for the hosts’ sixth try. Keohane converted.

A sharp outside break saw Robbie Martey score in the corner, before Blewitt ran in for a converted try.

Henley’s ten-match unbeaten run was ended by Worthing at Dry Leas.

The visitors took the lead through Joseph Marchant’s converted score, before Hawks moved to within two points when hooker Nathan Taylor crossed.

Worthing’s Liam Perkins dived over. Matt McLean added the extras.

However, the hosts replied when Lloyd Owen squeezed through to touch down.

George Eastwell converted.

The visitors extended their lead when Marchant scored under the posts. McLean landed the kick for 21-12.

Hawks had their backs against the wall and, with Eastwell in the sin-bin, Worthing were awarded a penalty try after a maul was stopped illegally. McLean converted.

The hosts drove forward and Matt Payne dived over, before captain Dave Clements crossed.

As a result, Hawks’ lead at the top was cut to 12 points.
