A SUPERB first-half display saw Grove crush Devizes 45-14 at Cane Lane.

The hosts led 38-0 at the interval, which was more than enough for victory, despite a partial Devizes rally.

Full back Henry Day scored and converted Grove’s first try after a great team move.

Lock Rory Gratwohl dived over near the touchline and fly half Harry Carr converted.

Wing Guy Nicholl sprinted in for try No 3, while hooker Steve Dixey’s score secured a bonus point inside 20 minutes, Carr converting both.

Nicholl dummied his way over for a second try, with centre Nick Sevier touching down for 38-0 before half-time.

Grove conceded two converted tries, but after a Devizes yellow card, Gratwohl went over for his second, Carr adding the extras.

Witney could not recover from a slow start in their 24-17 defeat at Towcestrians.

Witney hit back with fly half Matt Clarke muscling his way over and centre James Lamb converting.

Falvey converted his own try early in the second half.

Clarke jinked his way through to bag his second, Lamb converting for 19-14.

Centre Matt Bodily’s try put Towcestrians 24-14 ahead.

Witney replacement Harry Stevens slotted a penalty, but visiting full back Jake Thomas and Bodily were yellow-carded after a scuffle.

The visitors saw wing Tom Perrin’s try disallowed due to a foot in touch.
