The majority of Oxford United supporters who contacted the Oxford Mail yesterday were in favour of Chris Wilder staying on at the club.

Almost two-thirds of comments during the weekly online U’s debate at www.oxfordmail.co.uk and via our Twitter feed @oxfordmailoufc wanted the 44-year-old to remain in charge amid reported interest from Coventry City.

The following Tweets were typical of those keen to see Wilder carry on at the Kassam Stadium .

@Mitcheast1: “Would hate for Wilder to go. Hes transformed OUFC, as well as giving me 3 of the best days of my life (Wembley, Swindon X2).”

@WoodstockJacko: “CW doing a great job with a team on the up. Cov are on way down and would be a bad move for CW.”

@Dan_Matthews93: “If he goes, he goes as the best manager we’ve had in the last 15 years. Just make sure we get someone that can take us up!!!”

But not everyone would be sorry to see the former Sheffield United and Rotherham United player go. @Rtanner82: “Love Wilder for all he has done for #Oufc but think he has taken us as far as he can.”

@Creashor: “I’m in the camp that would welcome his departure. Under-performed for 18 months. I think he’s as tired of OUFC as I am of him.”
