GARY Caldwell intends to keep Oxford United guessing when it comes to which system his Chesterfield side deploys tomorrow.

The Spireites switched to a 3-4-3 formation for Tuesday night’s goalless draw at Millwall.

But while it proved successful against the in-form Lions, Caldwell has not ruled out another change of shape this weekend.

He said: “I think we play different formations.

“These players can adapt, we have options in different areas

“The front three are a threat at the minute, both in general play and from counter-attack situations.

“I’ll look at Saturday, every game is different. You have different things the opposition can hurt you with so have to be wary of that but find ways you can hurt them.”

The former Wigan Athletic boss has drawn three games and lost his other three since taking charge last month.

But he hopes the creditable point at the Den is the launch pad to a first victory as Chesterfield bid to escape from danger.

He said: “It’s important we build on this.

“We need to start winning games.

“We go back to the Proact full of confidence that we can get a win and start to get ourselves out of trouble.”
