Oxford Utd 1 (Louis 65), Swindon Tn 0

December 8, 2002, FA Cup second round

Oxford Mail:

  • Jefferson Louis (right) scored the winner

A TIGHT televised cup tie was decided when Jefferson Louis flicked on Scott McNiven’s long throw, which bounced just past Steve Basham and into the far corner.

The cheeky striker also grabbed the limelight after the game.

When the third round draw handed the U’s a trip to Premier League champions Arsenal, the BBC cameras caught Louis jumping around the dressing room with a towel barely protecting his modesty.

Swindon Tn 1 (Ritchie 20), Oxford Utd 2 (Constable 12, 43)

August 21, 2011, League Two

Oxford Mail:

  • James Constable heads home the first of his match-winning double

AFTER spending nine years apart since the FA Cup tie, the rivalry returned with a vengeance early in the 2011/12 campaign.

The build-up was dominated by Paolo Di Canio insisting James Constable was a Swindon fan.

If it was designed to unsettle United’s No 9, in fact a big Tottenham supporter, it failed miserably.

Constable’s double before the break, sandwiching Matt Ritchie’s strike, earned a first victory at the County Ground since 1973.

Oxford Utd 2 (Hall 16, Johnson 18), Swindon Tn 0

March 3, 2012, League Two

Oxford Mail:

NOT many sequels match up to the original, but the return match later in the season was just as dramatic.

Constable was again centre stage, after rejecting a January move to Wiltshire.

This time he was sent off after 11 minutes, for an alleged elbow on Joe Devera.

With Swindon on a ten-game winning run and top of the table, the hosts’ hopes looked over.

But within seven minutes United were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Asa Hall and Oli Johnson.

A famous backs-to-the-wall defensive display followed.

Oxford Utd 1 (Potter 88), Swindon Tn 0

September 5, 2012, JPT first round

Oxford Mail:

  • Alfie Potter celebrates his late winner

THIS tie offered Swindon, who went on to win the previous season’s title, an early chance to make amends.

Oxford’s injury-ravaged side had just begun a sequence of six successive league defeats, but when the derby came knocking, again Chris Wilder got one over on Di Canio.

This time the drama came late.

With many at the Kassam Stadium thinking about a penalty shoot-out, Constable (who else?) took advantage of a defensive mix-up to cross for Alfie Potter to score an 88th-minute winner.

Oxford Utd 2 (Roofe 41, 53), Swindon Town 0

October 6, 2015, JPT second round

Oxford Mail:

  • Kemar Roofe opens the scoring

THEY may have been a division below the Robins, but United went into the game as the form side.

The teams were welcomed by an enormous banner in the East Stand and after a tight opening half-hour, it turned into a romp for the home side.

Jordan Turnbull’s brainless red card was the cue for United to pour forward.

Kemar Roofe’s brace was the least they deserved on a night where they were a cut above their rivals.
