PREMIER League champions Leicester City visit Oxford United tonight in a mouth-watering friendly.

A crowd close to 10,000 is expected as Claudio Ranieri brings his strongest available squad.

While Jamie Vardy’s appearance at Euro 2016 rules him out, the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Wes Morgan, Kasper Schmeichel and £16m record signing Ahmed Musa are expected to play 45 minutes.

Gary Lineker and the Premier League trophy will also be in attendance.

The friendly was arranged thanks to City assistant coach Craig Shakespeare’s long-standing link with Michael Appleton.

And the U’s boss cannot wait: “It’s incredible, someone mentioned if we beat them we’ll be the unofficial Premier League champions.

“It will be a great occasion for everyone.

“After the season we had last year the fans deserve a pre-season game like this.

“I would imagine they would be looking to impress Claudio because all of a sudden the world is watching Leicester City.”

The clash is a huge coup for United, with the Foxes’ other pre-season games coming against Celtic, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

The hosts have plenty to gain tonight, with Leicester waiving their right to a share of the gate receipts.

Alex MacDonald (hip) will miss out for the hosts, who also have a doubt over Josh Ruffels (toe).
