JORDAN Graham has finalised a 28-day loan move which will see him available to make his Oxford United debut against York City tomorrow night.

The 20-year-old has joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers and is predominantly a left winger, but can also play on the right and in a No 10 role.

Graham, who has not played a senior game for his parent club but has had brief loans at Ipswich Town and Bradford City, met up with his new teammates in training this morning.

And the former Aston Villa trainee has been excited about the move since being told on Sunday morning by Kevin Thelwell, head of football development and recruitment, at Molineux.

Graham said: “Kev said to me they play really exciting football and they’re doing really well in League Two.

“For me that’s all that matters, a team that’s doing well and play good football, that’s perfect for me as a winger.

“As soon as I heard I just wanted to get down here and play.”

He will bolster the attacking options of a side which has scored once in the last three games and drew 0-0 at home to Morecambe on Saturday.

But the signing was not a knee-jerk reaction to the result, according to head coach Michael Appleton, who has had an eye on Graham for several weeks.

He said: “What you have to bear in mind is I’m also conscious of the fact we have a couple of players who are out of form, a couple are on the brink of a suspension and Callum (O’Dowda) being away for the Wimbledon game (on international duty).

“It does make sense when you think about it.

“It’s not something we’ve pushed and pushed, but it’s a discussion we’ve had for quite a while now.

“It could have quite easily happened last week, but they had an under 21s game on Friday and they were keen for him to play.”
