JAKE Wright praised Oxford United’s “bottle” for the way they fought back from two goals down to take a point at Luton Town.
The hosts looked well on course for maximum points when Cameron McGeehan made it 2-0 midway through the second half.
United had not successfully come back from such a position in a league game since December 2006, against nine-man Stevenage.
But goals in the final ten minutes from Kemar Roofe and Patrick Hoban ensured they earned a 2-2 draw.
Wright said: “We lost the game (at Luton) 2-0 last year and it was very similar to this one – they didn’t dominate the game and we just couldn’t score.
“But we showed real bottle to come back into the game and it did feel like a win.
“We want more points, but we’re still unbeaten.”
For the United skipper, it was a better feeling than beating Sky Bet Championship side Brentford 4-0 in the Capital One Cup four days earlier.
He said: “I think it’s more satisfying, from the position we were in.
“I wouldn’t have taken a point beforehand, I came to win this game, but when you’re 2-0 down with ten minutes left and get back into it that’s more important for us than the cup.
“Tuesday was brilliant, but it’s about League Two and to come to a Luton side who will be up there and be on top for most of the game is really good.”
