OXFORD United will need to keep their wits about them tomorrow against a flexible Exeter City side who can alternate between different systems during the game.

The Grecians have tended to line up in a 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield this season.

But last week at Mansfield Town, they switched to a back three on the way to a 3-2 win.

Paul Tisdale, now into his ninth season in charge of Exeter – making him the longest-serving manager in the Football League - believes his side are comfortable swapping between the two formations.

“Every team will have their way of coping with pressure,” he told the Express & Echo.

“My way is to allow the players to continue playing the same way, but just to change their positions.

“Every now and then you can come unstuck, but that is the nature of sport.

“I think, on the whole, we win more than we lose doing it, so we will keep on doing it.

“Mansfield is a good example of that – we started with an attacking formation, we went to a more conservative formation and then we attacked again at the end.

“It is the way we do it and fortunately the players are on board with it and they are able to change very quickly.”

The win at Mansfield stopped the rot for Exeter, who had lost four of their previous five games.
