SKY BET LEAGUE TWO

MICKEY Lewis is prepared to tinker with Oxford United’s line-up as he looks to counter Chesterfield’s threats this afternoon.

The caretaker boss suggested individuals who had done well in the 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night could be left out as he seeks to topple the league leaders.

He said: “We will mix it about in certain areas, even players who did well might have a game out of it.

“We always concentrate on ourselves, but when you are playing someone like Chesterfield you have to look at them, you can’t be naive.

“They are top, so they must be the best team in the league and you have to be wary of what you can do, but obviously you have to impose your game on them as well.”

Josh Ruffels and Johnny Mullins were partnered in central midfield in midweek and both are expected to retain their places in the side.

The changes are likely to come further forward, where United have plenty of options.

Dave Kitson (hamstring) is the only player ruled out, but Alfie Potter is on the frame to come into the side.

Chesterfield have added to an already large squad this week by signing Derby County striker Mason Bennett and Peterborough midfielder Daniel Kearns on loan.

Bennett, 17, is very highly rated and the England under 19 international could make his debut as a substitute this afternoon.
