OXFORD United's frustration with the wet weather this week may not be over after Charlton Athletic announced they planned a pitch inspection ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third round tie.

Although London is dry at the moment, rain is forecast tonight, tomorrow morning and for most of Saturday, adding to already damp ground.

As a precaution, the Sky Bet Championship club have annnounced an early inspection will be made at 11am on Friday.

A statement on their website said: "Due to the recent adverse weather and predicted forecast there will be a pitch inspection ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Oxford United at The Valley.

"The inspection will take place within the next 24 hours and any decision regarding the fixture will be announced as soon as possible."

United have already had one postponement this week, with yesterday's New Year's Day game at Newport County called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Valley has already had problems with heavy rain this season, with their clash against Doncaster Rovers in August abandoned at half-time.
