Bringing an end to Oxford United’s travel sickness is the priority today as they make the short trip to Wycombe Wanderers.

The U’s have not picked up a point on the road in the six npower League Two games since winning 2-0 at Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the season.

Only basement side Barnet have a worse record in the division, and the sequence is the club’s worst away run in the league for more than eight years.

U’s manager Chris Wilder feels the contrast from their home results is down to the number of senior players out injured over the last two months, but acknowledges the rot has to stop.

He said: “We’ve possibly got a bottom two away record because of the players we’ve had to pick from.

“We’ve had to pick young players that no doubt about it will be better at home than away – it’s a mentality thing away from home.

“But you’re right, we have to change that and be better with the results.

“It’s not a run that we’re happy about and I’m sure it won’t continue.”

The U’s played well for long spells in their most recent away setback, a 2-0 defeat at Rochdale on Tuesday night.

Wilder is confident a similar performance will produce a good result from a game which he predicts will be fast and furious.

He said: “I’m sure if we play well, and show the qualities we have done over the last week, we can go to Wycombe and win.

“We’re in decent nick, we just need to make sure we’re just a little bit more positive in and around the final third.”

United will make one enforced change, with Michael Raynes suspended.

Skipper Jake Wright will replace him in the back line, but the visitors will have to wait and see if Lee Cox has recovered from the virus which ruled him out in midweek.

Wycombe caretaker-manager Gareth Ainsworth may again decide to select himself in midfield, while he has lively striker Jo Kuffour back from suspension.

But there are doubts over former U’s loanee Dean Morgan and Matt McClure, who picked up hamstring injuries in the goalless draw with Barnet on Tuesday.
