Our weekly column with Oxford United’s managing director Greig Box Turnbull on the latest news from in and around club
OXFORD United will be backed by an incredible 3,500 fans for tomorrow’s trip to Premier League side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
The London Road Club is running nine coaches for the 460-mile round trip by the Yellow Army.
The cup runs have been a terrific boost and tomorrow’s match will generate a six-figure sum for the club.
It also breeds confidence throughout the playing squad, lifts the back-room staff, and creates a fantastic sense of pride in the club and the fan base.
The national media have taken up our success story and been at the training ground this week interviewing players and the coaching staff ahead of the trip north.
Everyone is proud to be in the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in years.
But the team will not be there to make up the numbers.
There is a determination to take the story onto the next chapter and progress into the next round.
The club was further boosted this week by Simon Eastwood extending his contract.
Simon has been first class this season, both in his performances and by the way he conducts himself and is a great credit to United.
The club is in contract talks with other key players and we are hopeful of making further progress.
Thank you for your support – see you at the Riverside.
