SWINDON Town boss Luke Williams admitted Oxford United were just too good for his side on Saturday.
The dejected Robins manager commented: “I don’t think we coped with the pressure of the atmosphere of the game and physically Oxford were too strong. They overpowered us.
“I am really hurting after that.
“It’s clearly not a penalty and I think if we get to half-time at 0-0, possibly it’s different.
“But from that point on, to try and chase the game and be higher up the pitch against this team was too much for us.”
Swindon’s boss was left to rue his side’s indiscipline which saw them end the game with nine men after Lloyd Jones and Lawrence Vigouroux were dismissed in the second half.
Williams could see why both red cards were awarded, but felt they could have been avoided.
“It looks to me like a terrible tackle on Lawrence,” he said.
“He reacts in a way that is not acceptable now, so with that said, it’s fair that he needs to go off.
“It looks and sounds like a very bad challenge on him.
“I think Lloyd is possibly unlucky. The tackle is bit loose, but I don’t think it was reckless.
“I think he was maybe unfortunate to be carded a second time.”
