DURING a week of cup ties where selection has been hindered by suspension and injuries, full back Joe Skarz found himself in different roles for Oxford United.
With Jake Wright injured for last Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Braintree Town, the 26-year-old partnered Johnny Mullins at centre back.
He returned to his favoured left back position for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Dagenham & Redbridge on Wednesday, taking the captain's armband with Wright and the banned Mullins out.
After impressing at the heart of United’s defence in Essex at the weekend, Skarz says he is willing to do a job in any position for the benefit of the team.
He said: “I’ll give my all in the shirt wherever I play and wherever the manager asks me to play.
“It’s what I do – I love being a professional footballer.
“The manager asked me to do a job and I was happy to do it for him.”
