PREGNANT Zara Phillips got into the saddle at Gatcombe at the weekend despite quitting competitive showjumping.

But the Queen’s granddaughter wasn’t competing - she did a test run for judges on Saturday at the Festival of British Evening to help them decide how to mark the official riders.

Zara, who lives on her mother Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate near Minchinhampton, also presented a plaque to Sheenagh Bragg, 21, and Amelia Ford, 11, of her former club, Minchinhampton Pony Club, as a tribute to her silver team medal performance at the London Olympics.

Julie Crew, the club’s district commissioner, said: "The plaque was donated by Sport England to medallists to give to the club where they started their sporting career.

"It was a special moment for the club and we are going to have it mounted so we can take it round with use and have it at our end of year celebrations."

Thousands of visitors enjoyed a bumper weekend of equestrian competitions, including show jumping, dressage and cross-country and a large variety of stalls.

There were a variety of tradestands and other highlights included Ye Olde Red Tail Falconry display team, dog agility and the Shetland Pony Grand National.
