Didcot battered Banbury 4th from first ball to last, but could not quite secure the win their dominance deserved.

Ian Demain led the way with an outstanding innings of 144 not out, while Matt Jones added 50 in Didcot’s 261-3 declared.

Jordan Morrison then took 5-42 and Dave Slade 4-56, but Banbury somehow survived for 52 overs to reach 156-9.

In-form Abingdon Vale 2nd are now breathing down Didcot’s necks after beating Kimble in a dramatic finish.

Joffe Cummings hit 43 in Vale’s 152 all out, while Adrian Rose (4-31), Bradley Rose (3-32) and Stuart Skeggs (3-37) were otherwise on top.

Henry Pickford then took 5-37 as Kimble fell just short on 145.

Notable knocks from Alex Mackie (67) and Matt Johnson (62no) meant Tiddington 2nd enjoyed a quickfire success at Challow & Childrey 2nd.

Challow had compiled 151-8 from 53 overs, with Mark Taylor making 38 and Liam Brown 32.

But the visitors scored at twice that rate to reach 153-5 in 25.1 overs.

Rob Cartwright (6-58) and Matthew Lowe (4-37) joined forces for Brackley to dismiss Thame Town 2nd for 135.

Chris Jeffcock (40) and Alastair Thomas (39) were the only home batsmen to prosper as Brackley closed in on their first win.

But Thomas then turned the match on its head by taking 7-36 as the visitors crumbled to 113 all out.
