Cropredy moved a step closer to Cherwell Division 2 and sent Chearsley nearer to Division 4 by handing out a hiding to their struggling opponents.

Michael Cappelluti finished with the remarkable figures of 5-5 after the visitors crumbled to 42 all out from 26.5 overs.

Cropredy then raced to 44-0 in only 8.1 overs.

Cropredy’s lead is up to 14 points after nearest rivals Bledlow Village drew at Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd .

Adam Mould (82) and Charlie Downes (41) took Bledlow to 200-8 from 41 overs, while Paul Hemming took 3-46 and Tom King 3-86.

Shipton’s reply was cut to 35 overs so they settled for a draw on 136-5, Shane Duff hitting 36 and Hemming 35 not out.

Banbury 3rd had much the better of a draw at Bledlow Ridge , and so overtook their fellow promotion-chasers.

Banbury made 177-5 from 41 overs, which looked like being enough once Ross Freeman (5-42) started working his way through the home line-up.

But the Ridge tailenders clung on for a draw on 95-9.

Steve Kelly took 6-43 at Dinton 2nd , but still finished on the losing side as Witney Mills passed up the chance to close the gap at the bottom.

Mills had made 147-6, thanks to veteran Malcolm Evans’s 40.

Kelvin Burrows (45) and D Ripley (30) kept Dinton in contention, and the hosts just managed to scramble their way to 151-9.

Witney’s nearest rivals Kingston Bagpuize slumped to defeat at home to Bicester & North Oxford .

The hosts’s 165-3 came from 41 overs and featured useful knocks from Daniel Murphy (67) and Richard Simpson (49).

Simpson (4-23) and Steve Conway (3-27) then helped dismiss Kingston for 116.
