CRICKET: Steady Eddie is star for Tew

Oxfordshire Under 17 Club Championship

Ed Gross was the star of the show as Great & Little Tew booked their place in the final with a ten-wicket victory over East Oxford.

Gross returned incredible figures of 7-8 with his leg spin as East Oxford were shot out for 93 in the semi-final.

Only Shahbaz Alam got going as he hit 36.

In reply, Tew were troubled by spinner Mohammad Alam, but they cruised to a comfortable victory with Josh Smith finishing unbeaten on 46 and Gross 42 not out.

Shrivenham overcame Didcot by 21 runs.

Shrivenham were asked to bat first on a wet wicket, and they lost an early wicket.

But Chris Walker came in and batted well with opener Conor Taylor.

Taylor fell for 27 and Walker 25, but Rory Slater hit a quickfire 43 not out to take Shrivenham to 144-6.

In reply, Will Cook took the wicket of Richard Cook for 24 as he looked well set.

But it was Walker (4-16) who bowled a match-winning spell, including two wickets in two balls as Didcot finished short at 123-9.
