KIDLINGTON face the sternest test of their credentials when they take on Slough Town in the first qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Vase at Yarnton Road tomorrow.

Back-to-back victories against North Leigh and Evesham see Kidlington in good form and full of confidence.

But they face a high-flying Slough side, who have lost just twice this season in the Evo-Stik South League Premier Division.

However, West Division outfit Kidlington are boosted by the welcome return of Declan Benjamin, who is back in contention after injury.

Boss Julian McCalmon said: “We are really looking forward to the Slough game.

“I know it will be a big ask to beat them, but we are in good form and should not fear anyone.

“I’m really pleased that we have much of the squad back fit now, although that does make my job a lot harder to pick a team.”

Only Mark Bell (hamstring) is ruled out.

Mark West has called on Thame United to start being more consistent ahead of tomorrow’s tie with Wimborne at the ASM Stadium.

Since the start of September, the East Division side have gone on a run of win-loss, win-loss – a pattern that has continued in the last week.

A brilliant 3-0 victory at home to high-flying Ashford Town was followed by a 3-1 defeat at Marlow, and West has hit out at his side’s defending.

He said: “We defended like clowns at Marlow.

“It was absolutely embarrassing.

“It’s been so frustrating as we seem to play really well one game and think we’ve got there, and then we produce a bad one.

“I’m not sure what goes through the lads’ minds, but this is the squad we have.

“It isn’t going to change massively, it’s my job to deal with what we’ve got.

“The lads have to start concentrating more on what they are doing and we must become more consistent.

“We are as good as anyone going forward, but defensively at times we just switch off and are conceding far too many goals.

“It’s difficult to work on much as we have really poor training facilities, a little 30 yard by 30 yard pitch, so it’s really tough to train properly.”

Dave Lynn (hamstring) faces a late fitness test, but Luke Ricketts is back from holiday.

Premier Division outfit Banbury United make the trip to Tiverton Town, having already beaten them in the Emirates FA Cup this season.

Banbury, who also host the Devon side in the league next week, will hope to build on the back of a three-game unbeaten run.
