GREAT & Little Tew humbled Horspath’s strong side as the hosts collapsed in spectacular style for an eight-wicket thrashing in Division 1.

Left-arm spinner Joe Thomas (5-37) and medium pacer Andy Harris (4-22) sent third-placed Horspath reeling from 99-1 to 138 all out after they had been put in to bat by the visitors, who started the day second-bottom.

The hosts, who included Pakistan overseas star Rameez Raja and former England Test paceman Ajmal Shahzad in tandem for the first time, lost eight wickets for just 20 runs.

Opener Tom Coleman hit 58, but after he and James Fitzjohn fell just before lunch it turned into a procession as Thomas and Harris polished off the home side after the break.

It was only a few lusty blows from tailender Jamil Faruq, who smashed 19 from 14 balls, that took Horspath to their final total.

The total was never likely to be enough and a second-wicket stand of 65 between captain Harry Smith (50) and Jordan Garrett (51no) steered Tew towards their target.

Lloyd Brock then joined Garrett in an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 59 to see the visitors home at 141-2.

Richard West hit a half-century and took five wickets as Banbury beat Oxford by 39 runs at Jordan Hill.

The visitors were reeling at 5-2 after electing to bat, but a third-wicket partnership of 58 between Charlie Hill (66) and Lloyd Sabin helped steady the ship.

Hill then combined with West (50) to take the visitors to 132-3, before Banbury lost four wickets for 28 runs to leave them on 160-7.

But Ollie Wright and Will Briggs’s eighth-wicket partnership of 53 helped them over the 200-mark, before they were eventually dismissed for 221.

Oxford looked in good shape at 138-4, thanks to Muhammad Ayub (68no) and Jamie Perkin (43).

But West dispatched the middle order as three wickets fell for as many runs.

And the hosts were finally out for 182 in 54 overs.

LEADERS Aston Rowant opened up a 27-point gap at the top of Division 2 when beating Oxfordshire rivals Thame Town at home by eight wickets.

Half-centuries from captain Josh Smith (70) and James McDougall (58no) steered the hosts to victory, chasing down a target of 181 in the 48th over.

The victory helped Rowant move further in front of second-placed Amersham, who lost to Harefield

Rowant’s decision to field first looked to have paid off early on as Will Sutcliffe was run out by Wes Morrick, before the all-rounder dismissed Gamindu Kanishka to leave Thame on 19-2.

They never really recovered, with wickets falling regularly as they slipped to 85-6.

However, Callum Russell (86) and Hassam Mushtaq (51), who hit 13 fours between them, gave Thame a fighting chance.

Their seventh-wicket partnership of 85 steered the visitors to 170-6, before they ended on 181-9 from 58 overs.

Rowant made light of work of their reply, with Andrew Tolson and Daniel Matthews making a strong start.

They both fell, but Smith and McDougall led the leaders to 185 and victory.

Anupam Sanklecha and Scott Harris took five-wickets apiece as Shipton-under-Wychwood beat Great Brickhill by 26 runs in a low-scoring clash.

A tenth-wicket stand of 53 between Shaun Miller and captain Charlie Brain also proved pivotal for the hosts as they recorded back-to-back wins.

Sanklecha continued his fine form when returning figures of 5-33, taking his wickets haul to 21 in his last three games.

Harris also starred with 5-43 as Brickhill were skittled for 82 after Shipton had earlier been dismissed for 108.

The west Oxon side were immediately in trouble at 4-3 after being put into bat.

Six more wickets fell for 51 runs as they were reeling on 55-9.

But Miller and Brain led the hosts into three-figures, before they were all out for 108.

Brickhill looked as though they would make light work of the total at 48-2, but up stepped Sanklecha and Harris.

The visitors lost eight wickets for 40 runs – the last four for 11 – as they were dismissed in 25 overs.
