MARK Bell scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Banbury United beat leaders Leamington 1-0 in front of a bumper crowd at The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.
The substitute struck with virtually the last kick to extend the Puritans’ unbeaten run to five games in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.
Playing in front of a crowd of 734, the Puritans created the first opening on 39 minutes but Callum White saw his effort scrambled off the line.
Courtney Baker-Richardson twice went close for the visitors after the break, heading straight at goalkeeper Jack Harding, before hitting a post.
The hosts had chances, with Martin Asiedu Ofosu seeing a shot blocked, while Zac McEachran fired over.
Leamington pushed for a winner and Andy Gunn needed to get in the way of a Ryan Rowe shot, before Harding saved from Richard Taundry.
But Banbury won it in the third minute of stoppage time when Bell scored from close range.
Banbury Utd: Harding, Westbrook, Gunn, Nash, Carnell, Self (Odhiambo 66), White, McDonagh (Browne 84), Ofosu (Bell 73), McEachran, Martin.
Subs not used: Humphreys, Blackstock.
Attendance: 734.
