LUKE Ryan proved the hero in taking four late wickets to help Banbury earn a 24-run win over Burnham.

The north Oxon side elected to bat, posting 213 with Hugo Darby top-scoring with 57 in the Division 1 clash.

But with the visitors on 186-6, Banbury were facing defeat, only for Ryan (4-22) to step up to the challenge.

Darby, helped by Ed Phillips (51) and Craig Haupt, guided the hosts to 101-3 before his dismissal.

Richard West contributed 55 in 75 and 26-run partnerships with Phillips and Ryan to help Banbury to 202-6.

But when he fell, the tail crumbled and they were all out for 213.

Raminder Singh (44) and Aftab Khan (40) helped put Burnham more than in contention.

But when Ryan dismissed Khan, the match swung in the hosts’ favour.

Despite a 36-run stand, the last four wickets fell for just three runs, with left-arm spinner Ryan doing most of the damage.
