BANBURY United lost 3-1 at home to a strong Eastleigh side in their first pre-season friendly.

The Vanarama National League outfit took the lead midway through the first half when a cross from Jai Reason was turned into his own net by Declan Benjamin.

Three minutes later another cross from Reason was headed home by former Oxford United striker Yemi Odubade.

Banbury reduced the deficit on 42 minutes via the second own goal of the game.

But the visitors completed the scoring on 58 minutes, when former Oxford City midfielder Luke Coulson lobbed Jack Harding.

Meanwhile, the draw for the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy has been made.

The Puritans will take on either Bishops Cleeve or Didcot Town at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium on October 29.
