BANBURY United’s longest-serving player Ollie Stanbridge is leaving the club, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Since joining the Evo-Stik Southern League club in 2002, the midfielder has clocked up more than 500 appearances during two spells.

The feat was recognised with an honour at the end-of-season awards, but it has been confirmed the Puritans’ Division 1 South & West play-off victory over Taunton Town in May was his last game for the side.

Two players are joining Banbury for their Premier Division campaign.

Midfielder Declan Benjamin (pictured) is back for a second spell after five seasons with Vanarama National League South side Oxford City.

The other is midfielder Jack Self, who has moved from fellow Southern League outfit Didcot Town, having previously been with City.

Manager Mike Ford said: “I needed quality players who would be able to fit in with the way we like to play, but I also need players who are committed and enthusiastic.

“Last season I was lucky enough to have almost a full squad at every training session and that’s the sort of commitment I expect.”

It was thought former Oxford United player Aaron Woodley would also be signing for Banbury, but the striker has decided to stay with North Leigh.
