BANBURY United lost 1-0 at home to Dunstable Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division last night.

Mike Ford’s side – on top for large periods – were beaten when Sam Doolan met a free-kick at the far post on 75 minutes for the game’s only goal as Banbury suffered back-to-back defeats following Saturday’s loss against King’s Lynn.

Wantage Town went ahead at Evesham in Division 1 South & West, but fell to a 5-1 defeat.

After missing a golden opportunity to take the lead when home goalkeeper Mark Sawyer saved a penalty, Wantage did go in front when Mark Francis netted on 23 minutes.

But a defensive mistake allowed Mark Magee to level on 39 minutes, before Liam Harding headed home on the stroke of half-time.

Magee made it 3-1 on 64 minutes and Lance Smith bagged a late brace.

North Leigh’s home game against Mangotsfield United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
