Oxford United boss Chris Wilder ’s options for making changes at Cheltenham Town tonight are restricted due to the ongoing injury situation.

Several players were below par during the 4-0 defeat at Burton Albion on Saturday and would expect to be dropped with a fully fit squad.

But with seven players either completely ruled out through injury or not 100 per cent fit, a significant overhaul is unlikely for the npower League Two clash.

“My hands are tied,” said Wilder. “I would (make changes) if I could, but I’ve got to look at what I’ve got.

“Lev’s (Peter Leven) not right to play any more than 25 minutes at the moment, neither is Harry Worley.

“I’ve got to make some decisions and pick the right team, but to be fair, regardless of formation and tactics, I just don’t want to see the team show that again.

“They’ve usually reacted pretty well in my time at the club and we need to at Cheltenham.”

James Constable is available after serving a suspension, while Jon-Paul Pittman is also pushing for a start after impressing as a substitute in recent games.

Tonsillitis is again expected to rule out Jake Forster-Caskey, which could mean Lee Cox, whose influence as a holding midfielder has been missed, could be rushed into the starting line-up after six games on the sidelines with a groin injury.

The squad held a meeting yesterday to air their views on Saturday’s defeat.

Skipper Jake Wright felt it was constructive.

He said: “You can’t divide and at the moment the team spirit is really strong.

“Obviously there’s arguments in the changing room afterwards, but that happens when we win games because we want perfection.

“We need to stick together and listen to the coaching staff.”
