ADAM Chapman is looking to round off a perfect week by helping Oxford United to three points against Exeter City tomorrow.

The midfielder delivered arg-uably his best performance of the season on Wednesday, as United beat rivals Swindon Town 1-0 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

It came two days after being at the birth of his second child, Bobby.

Chapman, who has been an ever-present for the U’s this season, goes into tomorrow’s game in an excellent mood.

He said: “At the minute, my life is going well.

“I’m in a good place with my football, the club’s doing well and my family life is excellent.

“If anything, having a kid gives you that little bit more – you know you’ve got an extra family member to look after so it makes you concentrate that bit harder.

“It gave me a boost before the game and made me feel that little bit more special.

“After bringing him into the world having a game straight after is perfect, I wanted to go out and show how happy I was.”

Chapman is hoping that he will still be smiling after tomorrow’s game against fellow fast-starters Exeter, who are second in the npower League Two table, one place above United.

But with United coming out on top in all their games at the Kassam Stadium this season, the hosts will start as favourites.

He said: “The boys are brimming with confidence and the home form has always been key for us. “It’s not an easy place to come with our crowd and the way we play at home most of the time.

“We don’t get too carried away with the Swindon win, but the league’s the main thing.”

Despite being only 22, Chapman has found himself as the most senior member of the United midfield, with Peter Leven and Andy Whing yet to feature through injury and Simon Heslop only playing a small part.

The former Sheffield United trainee is revelling in the added responsibility.

In particular he is relishing the partnership with teenager Jake Forster-Caskey, who has been a big hit since joining on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer.

He said: “At the end of last season I enjoyed playing with Peter Leven.

“Both he and Jake like to get on the ball and pass it, I’m glad we signed Jake because he’s exactly the same as Levs.”
