ALEX Mowatt is available for Oxford United tomorrow night and head coach Karl Robinson expects a response after a costly fortnight for the midfielder.

The Barnsley loanee has been suspended for the last three games following his dismissal in the 3-0 defeat at Portsmouth.

Robinson could bring him back in to face Fleetwood Town and the U's boss believes he will be attempting to make amends.

"I’d hope so," he said.

"We played a practice game on Thursday and he scored two unbelievable goals in it.

"His dead ball delivery is second to none, so it gives us more quality in those areas and hopefully we can exploit that, even though Fleetwood are a big strong team it’s something we’re going to work on."

Mowatt will be relieved to be back in the frame, after having to dig deep financially during his lay-off.

Robinson said: "It’s cost him a fortune.

"Whether it’s raffle tickets going round or sponsorship money being needed, we’ve made him pay for everything."

Mowatt's return comes at a good time, with Josh Ruffels, James Henry and Wes Thomas all picking up knocks in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Oldham Athletic.

Robinson said: "They’re not good, but hopefully one might be available for the squad. We’ll see how that goes."

Gino van Kessel is also in the mix to make a surprise comeback.

Having been ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury last week, the forward trained yesterday and providing there was no reaction he is likely to be named in the squad tonight.

Fleetwood boss John Sheridan has no new injury worries, but could freshen up the team after feeling they looked tired in defeat at Rotherham United on Saturday.
