GEORGE Jeacock ca-me off the bench to help Didcot Town secure a brilliant 2-0 home victory over high-flying Bristol Manor Farm.

On a day when the weather caused havoc with the Evo-Stik South League fixtures, the Railwaymen made the most of being only one of four West Division games to beat the rain.

Sam Elkins and Jeacock found the net as the Railwaymen extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions.

They are now level on points with third-placed Manor Farm, but only behind on goal difference.

Didcot were unlucky not to go ahead early on, but Dave Murphy was denied by last-ditch defending from the visitors.

The home side continued to threaten, but George Reid and Felipe Barcelos were also foiled.

At the other end, Didcot’s defence, which has not conceded a goal at the Draycott Enginnering Loop Meadow Stadium since November 18, stood firm.

Andy Ballard’s side deservedly took the lead on 42 minutes when the visitors failed to clear Reid’s corner and Elkins fired home.

Manor Farm improved after the break, but Didcot kept them at bay.

With the game on a knife edge, substitute Jeacock proved the hero.

Just moments after coming on, he fired home from close range with 11 minutes to go to make sure of the three points.

Didcot Tn: Bedwell, Elkins, McNeill, Hayden, Cattell, Learoyd, Reid (Gardner 90), Murphy, Barcelos, Barder (Akinlusi 70), Pin (Jeacock 76).

l THE non-league fixture list was badly affected by the rain.

Thame United’s East Division trip to Hartley Wintney was called off, as was Banbury United’s Premier Division clash with Basingstoke Town.
