JACK Payne has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan a day after being recalled from Oxford United.

The 23-year-old Huddersfield Town midfielder will stay with the Sky Bet League One promotion challengers for the rest of the season.

It sets him up for a reunion with United on the final day of the season, when Pep Clotet's side visit Ewood Park.

Payne was due to stay with the U's for the whole campaign, but Huddersfield triggered the January recall clause yesterday.

He told Rovers' official website: "I'm really pleased to get this opportunity to move to a really great club and I can't wait to get going here.

"The last few days have been hectic to be honest. I heard about the move and it's been done really quickly, which is all good from my side of things.

"I heard Rovers were interested, Huddersfield were proactive about it and I'm really excited to join a club doing well in the league and playing some good football."
