DIDCOT Town stretched their unbeaten run to six games as they beat Cirencester Town 4-0 to climb into the play-off places.

Felipe Barcelos and George Reid both scored twice as the Railwaymen marked manager Andy Ballard’s 100th game in charge with an emphatic win at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium.

It took Didcot just 70 seconds to take the lead in the Evo-Stik South League West Division encounter as Barcelos rounded goalkeeper Matuesz Wierczorek to score against his former club.

And it was soon 2-0 when Reid found the corner in the ninth minute after his initial shot was saved.

Cirencester came into the game, but could not find a way through the Didcot defence.

And the hosts put the result beyond doubt on 48 minutes after Reid fired home his second.

Cirencester pressed forward, but former Didcot striker Ben Whitehead struck the woodwork, while Adam Learoyd cleared off the line.

The hosts then added No 4 when Barcelos cooly netted with two minutes to go.

North Leigh fell to a 2-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Salisbury.

The west Oxfordshire side are now without a victory in six games and down to 17th in the table.

John Brough’s side conceded a penalty in the first minute, which Olly Mehew tucked away.

Lewis Benson and Aaron Dawson then went close for the home side.

And the Millers could have been 2-0 down at the break, but Jake Wannell headed against the bar.

Mehew then mis-cued in front of goal for Salisbury as North Leigh continued to frustrate their hosts.

But the home side made the three points safe in the second minute of added time when Stu Green profited from a mistake to slot home.

Kidlington suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bristol Manor Farm.

The Greens dominated the first half, but were restricted to long-range efforts from Lewis Coyle, Darius Browne and Lance Williams.

The second period started in the same vein, before the hosts broke the deadlock on 54 minutes.

A long ball forward evaded Kidlington’s Ben Brown and Troy Simpson fired under Sam Warrell.

The visitors, though, went close to securing a point late on when Mark Bell hit the bar from 25 yards.

In the East Division, Thame United lost 1-0 at home to Hayes & Yeading United.

Both sides had chances early on, Dan West going close for the hosts, while Craig Hill kept out the visitors.

Lynton Goss was then foiled for Thame.

But Hayes took the lead on 50 minutes when Ismael Ehui netted.

Thame’s James McGowan was denied late on as the hosts were narrowly beaten.

ELLIOT Sandy scored twice as Banbury United eased to a 5-0 victory at Bishop’s Stortford in the Premier Division.

Conor McDonagh, Luke Carnell and Tom Winters were also on target as the Puritans put their midweek defeat to Farnborough well and truly behind them.

The emphatic victory ensured Mike Ford’s side stay within five points of the play-offs.

Banbury got off to a flying start when they took lead after six minutes.

Jack Self crossed for Sandy to head past goalkeeper Tyler McCarthy from 12 yards.

The Puritans continued to dominate, but had to wait until the half-hour mark to double their advantage when Ricky Johnson headed Charlie Hawtin’s cross into the path of Sandy, who made no mistake.

Just a minute later, it was 3-0 as Hawtin and Johnson again combined for McDonagh to slot home from close range.

The visitors were forced to clear a Jason Williams header off the line on 35 minutes, but ended the half with their three-goal lead intact.

Banbury’s fourth arrived on 58 minutes when Carnell netted on the rebound after his initial goalbound header from a Hawtin corner was blocked.

Darren Foxley fired wide as the home side went in search of a consolation.

But it was only a rare foray forward when Banbury made it 5-0 on 76 minutes as Jordy Ngathe crossed for substitute Winters to powerfully head home and complete the rout.
