JOHN Lundstram will be given time to prove his fitness ahead of Oxford United’s trip to Northampton Town tomorrow.

The U’s skipper was forced off with a dead leg seven minutes from time in the 4-2 defeat against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.

It was still troubling him yesterday and the midfielder is a doubt to start at Sixfields.

Head coach Michael Appleton intends to wait before making a decision, but has no intention of gambling on the issue.

He said: “Lunny’s range of motion is a lot better than it was on Wednesday.

“We’ll have to play it by ear and see where we’re at on Friday.

“We’ll give him as much time as he needs, but we won’t take too many risks with it.

“With dead legs, if you get a knock again in the same place they can get a lot worse.”
