OXFORD United have been linked with a move for Everton midfielder Ryan Ledson.

The 19-year-old is available to leave Goodison Park on a permanent deal in this transfer window.

Ledson, whose only Everton appearance came aged 17 in the Europa League, made 28 appearances on loan at Cambridge United last season.

The U's and Portsmouth are interested in signing him, according to the Liverpool Echo.

United head coach Michael Appleton wants to add two more players to his squad before the transfer window closes next Wednesday.

While a pacy winger remains the top priority, the U's are always on the lookout for quality players who can be developed and have built up a link with Everton in the past year.

Skipper John Lundstram came through the ranks at the Merseyside club, while Jonjoe Kenny - a teammate of Ledson's in the youth set-up - spent the second half of last season on loan at the Kassam Stadium.
