BANBURY held Division 1 leaders Finchampstead to a draw in a thrilling finish, with the result in doubt until the final over.

Finchampstead and their talented South African seamer Jandre Coetzee have steamrollered all opposition in recent weeks in the Home Counties Premier League.

But they met their match in Banbury, who recovered from 60-5 to reach 195-9, after being put in to bat.

They were rescued by a superb innings from captain Lloyd Sabin, who made 86 from 150 balls.

He received support from Ashley Blanchard, who scored 37.

Coetzee took only one wicket, while his opening partner Matt Carter took 4-56.

However, Coetzee shone with the bat making 43 not out off 43 balls.

But the task of scoring 12 runs from the final over proved just beyond Finchampstead as they finished on 194-8.
