CALLUM O’Dowda was on cloud nine after putting the icing on Oxford United’s cake with the final goal in their 3-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
The 21-year-old winger, from Kidlington, fired home in injury time to spark wild celebrations as the U’s secured promotion to Sky Bet League One.
And the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international could not hide his beaming smile.
“That was unbelievable,” he said.
“Winning the game comfortably was immense, but for me personally, to score like that is just an unbelievable moment.
“There were a few nerves and then people around us telling us that Dagenham had gone ahead, and then conceded, but we did what we had to.
“The goal was just a perfect way to end the season.
“I know it was 2-0 when I came on and the game was almost won, but when that third goal went in, you knew we had done it.
“Seeing the fans, the players, the staff. Wow. Just wow.”
