THE latest group of Commonwealth Games bosses are in Glasgow today to assess the city's bid for the 2014 event.

Mike Fennell, president of the Games Federation, and his Executive Board members are the latest contingent to examine the city's facilities and will be in the city for three days.

Although the group are not allowed to vote on the final decision, they are hugely influential in the movement.

They will be given an extensive tour of proposed venues and will meet with senior representatives from the Scottish government, Glasgow City Council and the Commonwealth Games Council For Scotland.

Glasgow is up against Abuja, Nigeria, to host the 2014 event.

Most voters from the countries have already visited, with a group from Africa due to arrive on August 29.

A total of 71 Commonwealth countries will vote in a secret ballot to decide which city will get to host the Games, with the result to be announced in Sri Lanka on November 9.

Other delegations that have already visited Glasgow have all said they have been impressed with what the city can offer the Games.
